Ask The Agent

Hi my name is Scott Chambers I’m 6”7 and 300lbs and I played TE/DE at CSU (Colorado State University) for a few years. I never really got too much playing time due to being a back up. I did try to offer to play punter at CSU, as I feel I can kick really well, but I was quickly told that I shouldn’t try to be something I’m not and to concentrate on my current positions.

I feel I have a good set of hands for the a TE and feel I can tackle relatively well for a DE after spending my entire life growing up playing rugby which involves lots of running and tackling as I am sure you know.

I am not the quickest person around but feel I am not completely slow and useless on that aspect.

I am from Australia and New Zealand as I grew up mainly in Brisbane, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand and a little in England.

I started playing rugby when I was 2 years old and pretty much have from there on out.   I have played rugby league and the rugby union form. I have been named MVP many times for single games and for the season. I also played cricket, soccer, hockey (both ice and field), Aussie rules football, and basketball. That is pretty much my career. I have tried out for many pro teams and even had a stint with the Australian U21’s and New Zealand U21’s for rugby. I went to training camp for the Brisbane Broncos and the New Zealand Warriors.

I have some questions about possibly making a run at becoming pro etc.

1. Due to me being foreign is this going to cause a problem for me in the future in attempting to become a NFL professional?

2. As I was not invited to the combine or draft, how do I go about trying to get picked up by a team?

3. Although I never got a chance to show off my punting skills, should I still offer punting as an option and how would I prove I am good at it?

4. As a TE/DE I think I can tackle and catch well, but how would I prove this?

5. I am still enrolled in classes at CSU, but soon to be done.  Will this pose a problem at all, as clearly time is a factor as I still have classes to attend and other obligations?

6. Although the above are the positions I have played and been trained in, should I consider others?

7. If I find an agent how does it all work and what are fees I should expect?
