In other parts of the world, peace is not as prevalent as it is here in America, but a great philanthropic organization called PeacePlayers International has a vision to bridge divides and use the game of basketball that we all love so much to foster this growth. We’ve all played basketball in our day and it’s a team sport, starting from clinic all the way up to the NBA. PeacePlayers International is attempting to bring innovation to the message of peace in a way that all children can relate to. The organization's four main objectives are to bridge social divides, develop future leaders, educate children to lead healthy and constructive lives, and to build community involvement.

PeacePlayers International was founded in 2001 by Sean Tuohey, on the premise that “children who play together can learn to live together.” PeacePlayers International currently operates programs in Northern Ireland, South Africa, Cyprus, and the Middle East that bring together thousands of children to form positive relationships, develop leadership skills, and improve their futures. Over the past six years, the organization has worked with over 45,000 children and is led by global network of youth leaders who work together as coaches, mentors, and facilitators.

Some of PeacePlayers notable Board members include R.C. Buford (General Manager of the San Antonio Spurs), Danny Ferry (General Manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers), Steve Kerr (General Manager of the Phoenix Suns), Lawrence Norman (Vice President, Adidas Global Basketball), and Super Agent Arn Tellem (President of WMG Management, which represents the likes of Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Joe Johnson, Tracy McGrady, and Pau Gasol).

As you can see PeacePlayers International is making every effort to change the world and have the right resources in place. Now it’s your turn to get involved and volunteer.
